Common last steps into POOP

How does the Poople solver work?
It runs a breadth-first search over a dictionary of common four-letter English words, changing one letter at a time, so the first route it finds is guaranteed to be one of the shortest.
Why did the game reject a word from the solver?
Poople uses its own word list. The solver tries common words first and only falls back to rarer ones when needed, but a word can occasionally be missing from the game. Try one of the alternative routes the solver shows.
What is the shortest possible Poople?
It depends on the start word. Words one letter away from POOP, like POOL, POOR, HOOP, LOOP or COOP, solve in a single step; most daily start words need four to seven steps.
